You have an oily skin and you are constantly trying to remove the shine from your forehead and chin. Some changes in hormone levels, like those that are happening during the teen years, can cause your skin to be oily and with acnes. But the oily skin isn’t problem only for teenagers. Many women are having oily skin problems during pregnancy, menopause or around the time of their menstrual periods, and some kinds of birth control pills.
But there is one more reason for oily skin. Blame the oily skin on men or on the male hormone androgen that is controlling the oil production in the skin. The women’s bodies are producing male hormones and many women may notice that their skin is oilier during the menopause or around the menstrual cycle, and all that is due to the oscillating levels of androgen.
One great benefit from the oily skin is that it keeps the skin looking younger. People that have oily skin have less wrinkles than people with normal or dry skin.
Read the following text to see how to manage the oily skin to look great.
1. Avoid Oils
Keep your hands off your face, don’t touch your face because hands can deliver excess dirt and oil.
Pull your hair back if you have issues with your skin because usually the oily skin and oily hair go together.
Use water-based cosmetics or learn how to live without makeup or without foundation. But if you must use make-up, better choose water-based products than the oil-based types. Avoid cream foundations and stick with gel blushers or powder.
2. Wash Your Face
You have to know that the oilier the skin, the dirtier the skin looks and feels. Try to combat this feeling by washing your face at least twice a day. Some doctors are recommending detergent-type soap, and you can even add a drop or two of dishwashing detergent. But if the detergent soap is too irritating to your skin, use the glycerin variety.
3. Use Salt and Cornstarch
Salt. In a spray bottle filled with lukewarm water, add 1 teaspoon salt. Close your eyes, imagine that you are at the seashore and spray the water on your face many times during the day and blot dry.
Cornstarch. The cornstarch can dry up oily patches. With warm water mix 1-3 tablespoons cornstarch to make a paste. Rub your face with the mixture, let it dry and then rinse off with lukewarm water, once a day.
4. Use Egg Yolk
There is one food that is a fast fix for removing the oil shine: the egg. You can dry your skin simply with an egg yolk mask. Apply the egg yolk with cotton to oily spots, leave on for 15 minutes and then rinse it off with cool water.
5. Absorb Extra Oil
Try by applying aloe vera gel to your face to clear your pores and to absorb the oil from your face. Do this three times a day and then let it dry. Keep the gel in the refrigerator and it will feel more refreshed.
Always carry tissues with you. Paper facial tissues can soak up the excess oils in one second. You can also buy special oil-absorbing tissues that are more effective.
If you don’t want to use chemicals on your skin, just splash your face with cold water and blot it dry and you will remove the excess oil.
6. Refresh Your Skin With Fruit
Some vegetables and citrus fruits can refresh your skin and reduce the oils. Mix equal parts water and lemon juice, put it on the face and let it dry. Rinse with warm water and then with cool water. Also try mixing ½ teaspoon lime juice with ½ teaspoon cucumber juice. Before showering, apply this mixture to the skin.
7. Exfoliate
The users of liquid soap can add ½ teaspoon baking soda into the mixture, and rub it gently only onto oily areas like the chin and nose. This mixture will also remove the blackheads. Then rinse it with cool water. You can also exfoliate your skin with apple cider vinegar. Apply it with cotton before going to bed. Leave it 5-10 minutes and rinse it with cool water. Use this remedy for 3 weeks and you will see the improvements. If you have sensitive skin then reduce the vinegar with four parts water.
8. Apple Facial
Mix ½ cup mashed apple, 1 slightly beaten egg white, ½ cup cooked oatmeal and 1 tablespoon lemon juice into a smooth paste, apply to your face, leave it for 15 minutes and rinse it with cool water.
9. Make a Masque or Scrub
You can remove the excess oil with a light scrub. Mix a small amount of almond meal together with honey and gently massage that paste onto the skin with a hot washcloth. Then rinse it. You can also try a mixture with oatmeal and aloe vera, and leave it on the skin for 15 minutes, and then wash it off.
Clay masques are very effective if you want to reduce the oil from your skin. Mix a clay masque with a little water and leave it on your face for 20 minutes, and then wash your face.
10. Ban Moisturizers
If you have oily skin, then skip the advertisements that are urging women to apply facial moisturizers. Before going outdoors in daylight, apply a sunscreen on your face, and choose products that are designed for oily skin.
